What is your vision for Knoxville 10 years from now?

To be one of the most inclusive, civic oriented, community oriented and economically friendly cities in the country. We have wonderful leaders that the next generation needs to learn from and take advantage of our excellent resources.

What are you reading that is on your nightstand?

Co-Piloting

What is your favorite Knoxville memory?

When we were growing up, we used to go to Metcalf Bottoms with our entire family. We would cook, play games/cards and enjoy the mountains on a Sunday.

What is the best advice you have received from a mentor, and who was that mentor?

“Pay the Rent” – my Dad – Knoxville has been wonderful to our family in more ways than we could ever imagine, you have to pay the rent back to the community. “Always Learn from your Mistakes” – Mistakes are very important in life, you have to make them, learn from them, don’t make those same mistakes again, but make another mistake to learn from.

What advice would you give to your 16 year old self?

Stay focused on your goals no matter what can cause you to stumble in achieving that goal. If you start out by allowing trip ups to hinder you from achieving your goals, you will continue to do this throughout life and never achieve what you desire.
