The Leadership Knoxville Scholars program is an innovative approach to leadership education through community partnerships. The program targets current rising junior leaders in a cohort style model in collaboration with the University of Tennessee. A highly selective and competitive program, the Leadership Knoxville Scholars targets the best and brightest student leaders at The University of Tennessee and connects them to impactful change agents and leaders within the Knoxville community.
The application period for the 2014-2016 cohort has closed. Applications will reopen in February of 2015. Congratulations to our new Scholars! Future applicants must be rising juniors, maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and a record of leadership and service experience. An application, interview and personal reference is required for acceptance into the program. Applications will be available online in Spring of 2015.
* Please note that the Leadership Knoxville Scholars is a two-year commitment for rising Juniors. However, temporary leave from the program may be granted on a case by case basis to accommodate students seeking study abroad and/or internship opportunities.
Program Outcomes
The Leadership Knoxville Scholars program will:
- Strengthen the relationship between UT students and the Knoxville community
- Connect students to community leaders and opportunities for growth
- Empower students with leadership skills to help them succeed following graduation
- Expose students to a variety of leadership theories and approaches
- Enable students to identify community needs specific to Knoxville
- Support students as they utilize leadership to create positive change in the local community
- Empower students to embrace a servant leadership mindset and practice
- Provide student leaders with an opportunity to explore what it means to leave a leadership legacy
- Educate students to identify their core values and commit to act on them
- Encourage student self-awareness as it relates to personal strengths, privileges, preferences and challenges

Youth Leadership Knoxville began with the intent of giving high school students the opportunity to enhance their knowledge of Knoxville and develop leadership skills that will encourage and inspire them to become involved and committed to our community.
