What is your vision for Knoxville 10 years from now?

I envision a Knoxville ripe with opportunity for all individuals regardless of race, gender or socioeconomic status. We will be a city that values diversity, economic and workforce development, preservation of our environment and improved outcomes for all. My hope is that all who visit would immediately move, wear Volunteer orange and scream at the top of their lungs, “GO VOLS!”

What are you reading that is on your nightstand?

Start With Why by Simon Sinek

What is your favorite Knoxville memory?

My favorite Knoxville memory besides time spent with family and friends was running for City Council last year. While it definitely opened my eyes to a number of the challenges we still have to face, it enabled me to meet so many of our wonderful neighbors across the city and showed me how awesome of a place we’re able to call home. It was an amazing experience and a memory that I will always cherish.

What is the best advice you have received from a mentor, and who was that mentor?

“Go back to school.” ~ Greg Mackay

What advice would you give to your 16 year old self?

“Slow down and enjoy the moment.
There are lessons in the good and the bad.
It’s never as bad as it seems.
Student loans are not your friend!”
