What is your vision for Knoxville 10 years from now?

Knoxville will be a destination, one that other cities aspire to be and travelers aspire to visit. A city defined by creativity and inclusion, pushing the limits and welcoming big thoughts and big love. We will embrace our Southern roots and weave them into our fabric welcoming anyone to our city, sweet tea and “welcome y’all” at the ready.

What are you reading that is on your nightstand?

“The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck” by Mark Manson

What is your favorite Knoxville memory?

Tie game here. I got married in Knoxville and both my children were born here. Amazing and paramount moments in my life in this city.

What is the best advice you have received from a mentor, and who was that mentor?

Go to a part of the business that you don’t understand and be willing to get lost in it and surrender to learning. When you do and depend on others to open you up, you will become the expert. – NJ Pesci, EVP & Chief HR Officer at Scripps Networks

What advice would you give to your 16 year old self?

Don’t cut your hair like that. Kidding, kind of… I would tell myself to stay curious, challenge the norms, remember that words are important and to never forget that no one other than you determines your worth.
