What is your vision for Knoxville 10 years from now?

To be the #1 destination for young professionals to start their career.  For Knoxville to have a distinct identity and brand that is recognized throughout the Southeast.  An identity that draws on our geography, downtown, and diversity.

What are you reading that is on your nightstand?

What is your favorite Knoxville memory?

My wife and I have had all three kids here in Knoxville, so those are without a doubt my three favorite Knoxville memories.  My favorite memory from a more Knoxville-focused perspective would be going to my first UT vs. Florida football game in Neyland.

What is the best advice you have received from a mentor, and who was that mentor?

Don’t be afraid to stand up for what you believe in, even if it’s unpopular or difficult.  That is the true measure of a leader. The mentor who told me that was my dad.

What advice would you give to your 16 year old self?

You will learn considerably more from your tough times and failures than you will from your successes, so embrace the tough times.  Don’t shy away from measured risk.
