What is your vision for Knoxville 10 years from now?

A community that welcomes and supports all. A place where my daughters can have opportunities to grow as they step into their own adult life, where they feel welcomed and acknowledged. A place that appreciates and honors the valuable assets it has.

What are you reading that is on your nightstand?

Dare to Lead: Brené Brown and Know Your Value: Mika Brzezinski

What is your favorite Knoxville memory?

I organized the 2016 UT vs. Kentucky Native American themed half-time show. The performances represented North and Central American tribes. It honored 20 Native American Veterans, including a female Army Lieutenant Colonel of 24 years who worked for NATO and the Pentagon on 9/11 and a World War II Purple Heart and Bronze Star Veteran. Over 190,000 watched in-person/online.

What is the best advice you have received from a mentor, and who was that mentor?

Take time for yourself! You are just as important as the things you find important. You need to take care of yourself so you can take care of the things/people you love. Moll Anderson

What advice would you give to your 16 year old self?

Love yourself! Don’t seek approval from those who don’t value you. Honor your ancestors and their fight. Persevere, the rewards are worth every struggle; you’re paving the path for the 7th generation. Don’t lose sight of the why and appreciate your supporters. Enjoy, it’s going to be incredible.
