What is your vision for Knoxville 10 years from now?

The Knoxville of 10 years from now already exists in the Knoxville of today. I believe the best of a community is often on display at the most difficult times and where are in difficult times. I believe that our VOLUNTEER spirit will continue to shine through as we work to help neighbors and friends.

What are you reading that is on your nightstand?

What is your favorite Knoxville memory?

Our family loves adventure, so our day trip to Ijams Nature Center, swimming at the quarry, kayaking from the Cove at Concord Park, weekend trips to the mountains, running the AT, eating the best burger on the planet, or date night in the Old City all fight for a spot at the top of that list.

What is the best advice you have received from a mentor, and who was that mentor?

You should always pursue DIScomfort. It is only when you are uncomfortable that you will push your limits and experience growth and we should always be trying to grow in every aspect of our life. If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you – Dr. Rodney Fitzgerald.

What advice would you give to your 16 year old self?

Spend more time appreciating the moment and be less driven to “accomplish”. Enjoy the journey, because that is the part that you will remember. And don’t wait to move to Tennessee, move SOONER! And in college, when someone says, “Try this.” . . . ask more questions.
