What is your vision for Knoxville 10 years from now?

In 10 years, I hope that Knoxville will have finally lived up to its potential, which is to be the best “pound for pound” city in the south.

What are you reading that is on your nightstand?

Thinking, Fast and Slow

What is your favorite Knoxville memory?

Some of my fondest memories of Knoxville relate to my childhood – traveling to Knoxville from middle Tennessee on football Saturday mornings early enough to arrive on campus and enjoy all of the pregame festivities with family and friends, going to the game and watching the Vols win, and enjoying a post game sandwich from Sam and Andy’s on the way home while listening to John Ward on the Vol Network.

What is the best advice you have received from a mentor, and who was that mentor?

The “Do Right Rule” – Stand firm on your principles, and always advise and do what you think the right thing is for the University of Tennessee and its stakeholders. (Catherine Mizell)

What advice would you give to your 16 year old self?

Worry less. Pray more. And don’t buy so many CDs and DVDs – you won’t need them.
