19 Dec YLK class meets with County Mayor Tim Burchett
“Members of the Youth Leadership Class met with Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett to learn about county government. Topics included the composition of the County Commission and the county budget. Mayor Burchett met with the class in the City County Building on November 17, 2014 and was joined by other elected officials of county government. County Finance Director Chris Caldwell, a member of the current Leadership Knoxville Class, provided the class with an overview of the county budget and the challenges of funding the departments and functions of Knox County Government. Previously, the Mayor’s Director of Communications, Michael Grider, an LK’14 graduate spoke to the class during their summer camp on communication. Also, Dean Rice, LK’10, the County Mayor’s Chief of Staff spoke to the class during their summer camp as well.
In addition, Mayor Burchett provided the class with a glimpse of his career in public service.”
